  • Temporarily processed by our AI analysis services
  • Stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB (not on our servers)
  • Never sold, shared, or used for marketing purposes
  • Automatically deleted from temporary processing systems after analysis

Usage Data

We collect anonymous usage statistics through Ahrefs Web Analytics to improve our service. This includes:

  • Page views and navigation patterns
  • Device type and browser information
  • General geographic location (country/city level)
  • No personal identifiers or IP addresses are stored

3. How We Store Your Data

Local Storage Only: All your scan history, text drafts, and results are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). This means:

  • Your data never leaves your device except during temporary API processing
  • We cannot access your stored scans or text
  • You control deletion by clearing browser data or using our "Clear History" feature
  • Your data persists only on your specific device and browser

4. Third-Party AI Processing

AI Service Disclosure: We use Vercel AI Gateway (powered by OpenAI) for AI content detection and grammar checking.

When you use AI-powered features, your text is temporarily sent to:

  • Provider: Vercel AI Gateway / OpenAI (GPT-5-nano model)
  • Data Sent: Only the text you explicitly submit for analysis
  • Purpose: AI content detection and grammar error identification
  • Retention: Text is not retained by OpenAI per their zero-data-retention API policy
  • Processing Location: United States

5. No User Accounts Required

VerifyWrite does not require account creation, registration, or login. We do not collect:

  • Names, email addresses, or contact information
  • Passwords or authentication credentials
  • Payment information (service is free)
  • Social media profiles or connections

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies for:

  • Rate Limiting: Tracking daily scan limits (stored in localStorage). Limits: 3 AI detections per day, 1 plagiarism check per day, unlimited grammar checks. Counters reset automatically at midnight local time on your device.
  • Analytics: Anonymous usage tracking via Ahrefs Web Analytics
  • No Advertising Cookies: We do not use cookies for targeted advertising

7. Data Retention

Since data is stored locally in your browser:

  • You control retention by clearing browser data
  • We retain no copies of your scans or text on our servers
  • Temporary API processing data is deleted within seconds of analysis completion

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete your local scan history at any time using our "Clear History" button
  • Clear all browser data including our local storage
  • Stop using the service at any time without consequence
  • Request information about our data practices (contact below)

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is designed for educational use by students, educators, and writers of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from users of any age, as we do not require accounts or collect identifying data.
