Keyword density

Common words (the, and, of…) are ignored.

More than a number

Word limits matter for essays, applications and articles, but the count is only the start. Reading time tells you whether a blog post respects the reader’s coffee break; speaking time tells you whether a speech fits its slot; keyword density shows you the word you have used nine times without noticing.

Your text stays in this browser and carries over to the AI detector, grammar checker and readability checker, so you can paste once and run the whole check.

Questions people ask

How does the word counter count words?

Any run of letters or digits counts as one word, including contractions (don’t) and hyphenated compounds (well-known). Punctuation and symbols on their own are not counted. This matches how Microsoft Word and Google Docs count in almost all cases.

Is my text saved anywhere?

Counting happens in your browser. Your current draft is kept in this browser’s local storage so it survives a page reload and follows you to the other tools; clear it with the Clear button or on the History page.

How many pages is 1,000 words?

About 2 pages single-spaced or 4 pages double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman with 1-inch margins. Fonts and spacing change this a lot.

What is keyword density?

The share of all words taken by one word. It helps you spot accidental repetition. Search engines do not reward a particular density, so use it to catch overuse, not to hit a target.
